The first trailer for Netflix’s Wham! documentary has arrived
The forthcoming documentary charts George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s journey to becoming WHAM!.
Netflix have recently commissioned a documentary about the rise of Wham! The movie will chart George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s journey in the 1980s from school friends to international pop stars.
Wham!, combines previously unseen interviews and footage from the Michael and Ridgeley's archives, charting the band’s whirlwind four-year career before Michael went solo. The documentary is being directed by Chris Smith, the documentary filmmaker whose credits include Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.
“In 1982, the best of friends and still teenagers - George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley as WHAM! set out to conquer the world,” the official synopsis says. “By June of 1986 they played their very last gig at Wembley Stadium having done exactly that. Now for the very first time, told in their own words, the amazing story of how in four years they dominated the charts around the world with timeless and classic pop songs. Hit after hit - "Club Tropicana", "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go", "Freedom", "I’m Your Man' and of course "Last Christmas".
WHAM! debuts on Netflix on 5 July.
