The Defiant Ones’ Allen Hughes to direct new Snoop Dogg biopic
It’s been revealed that Universal Pictures is developing a new biopic about the legendary Snoop Dogg, and Allen Hughes (The Defiant Ones) is on board to direct.
The film will mark the first project under Snoop Dogg’s recently formed Death Row Pictures, and as well as being directed by Hughes, the biopic will have a script by Joe Robert Cole. Snoop Dogg will produce the film alongside Hughes and Sara Ramaker.
Deadline reports that Snoop Dogg said of the project, “I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen, and the memory I’m trying to leave behind. It was the perfect marriage. It was holy matrimony, not holy macaroni.”
Last month Snoop Dogg and DJ Drama released their joint mixtape Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It.
