The Cure release 1990 demo version of "Cut"
The Cure have unveiled a 1990 demo version of "Cut" from their forthcoming 30th anniversary deluxe edition of Wish.
After announcing the 30th anniversary edition of Wish last month with "Uyea Sound (Dim-D mix)", The Cure have delivered a second outing from the deluxe version, which is a 1990 demo of "Cut".
The Cure's 30th anniversary release of Wish will include 24 previously unreleased songs.
Robert Smith said of the album in a press release, "The overall sound was in my head from the start. We used a pretty small palette of sounds, as we did with Disintegration, but managed to create a lot of different kinds of song with it. I think Kiss Me was more of a reference than Disintegration.
He added, "There’s a side to the album which I had kind of forgotten, a very gentle, yearning thing which is quite beautiful. "Trust" is one of the best things we’ve ever done I think, it’s played with great feeling, and "To Wish Impossible Things" is another gorgeous, melancholic piece… in fact it could well be my favourite song on the record."
The Cure's 1990 demo version of "Cut" is out now. The 30th anniversary deluxe edition of Wish will be released on 7 October via UMC/Fiction Records/Polydor, and is available to pre-order now.
