Tegan and Sara release new single "Smoking Weed Alone"
Ahead of their tenth album Crybaby landing tomorrow (21 October), Tegan and Sara have unveiled a final preview of the record titled "Smoking Weed Alone".
"Smoking Weed Alone" is the fifth and final preview of Crybaby before it arrives in full tomorrow following earlier outings "I Can't Grow Up", "Faded Like A Feeling", "Yellow" and "Fucking Up What Matters", and arrives with another video directed by Mark Myers.
Sara Quin says, "With this album, I wanted there to be a dialogue that we could have about the songs. Some of Tegan’s songs became almost like duets, because she allowed me to go in there and challenge her to rewrite lyrics. I wanted a narrative that could tie into our relationship and some of the things that were happening in our life, even if the song wasn't about that. And for "Smoking Weed Alone", there’s a chorus where we’re sort of singing to each other, and we haven’t done that before, in our career."
Crybaby will follow Tegan and Sara's 2019 album Hey, I'm Just Like You. It was recorded at Seattle's Studio Litho and LA's Sargent Recorders, and was produced by Tegan and Sara with John Congleton.
"Smoking Weed Alone" is out now. Tegan and Sara's Crybaby album will follow tomorrow (21 October) via Mom+Pop Music, and is available to pre-order now.
