Taylor Swift says Loretta Lynn "paved the way for every songwriter who's trying to be truthful and honest today"
During yesterday's (30 October) Loretta Lynn tribute special, Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance to pay tribute to the late artist, saying she "paved the way for every songwriter who’s trying to be truthful and honest today".
Yesterday Country Music Television aired a Loretta Lynn tribute special, and as well as featuring Jack White Brandi Carlile, George Strait and more, Taylor Swift made a surprise contribution to the tribute event via a video, where she thanked the late Lynn for paving "the way for every songwriter who’s trying to be truthful and honest today".
Swift said, "I’m so grateful to Loretta for being an example, not only for songwriters everywhere, but more specifically female songwriters."
"She was so ahead of her time," Swift added. "The way she exercised brutal, truthful, fearless honesty every time she sat down to write a song is something that changed music forever and paved the way for every songwriter who’s trying to be truthful and honest today."
