Taylor Swift has officially announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Taylor Swift announced the news during the sixth and final night of her Eras Tour shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The re-recorded version of 1989 follows the release of Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which is the latest album to be given the Taylor's Version treatment.
1989 was originally released in 2014, and featured her hit singles such as “Shake It Off” “Blank Space,” “Style” and “Wildest Dreams". Fans had already been speculating that it would be the next album to be re-recorded as Swift has already shared a handful of tracks from it, including, “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version),” following the song’s viral turn on TikTok, in November 2021, then “This Love (Taylor’s Version),” which was featured in the trailer for the Amazon Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Her fifth studio album was nominated for ten Grammys, and won Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video for “Bad Blood” which featured a myriad of guest stars including Selena Gomez, Zendaya, Jessica Alba, and Hayley Williams, who features on the Vault track, "Castles Crumbling", on Speak Now (Taylor's Version). At the time, Swift had made history by becoming the first woman to win the Grammy for album of the year twice for her solo recordings.

Announcing the album at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, last night, Swift acknowledged the fact that she had worn a new batch of blue dresses throughout the night – including a gown during her performance of “Enchanted,” a new two-piece during the Folklore era, and a shimmering cobalt dress during her acoustic set.
“You might have noticed there were some new outfits on the show… There’s something I’ve been doing for a really, really ridiculously, embarrassingly long time. I think instead of telling you about it, just show sort of show you,” she said, before the album's artwork was displayed on the screen behind her.
Following the show, she took to her socials to share the news, worldwide. “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”
The forthcoming LP is available to pre-order from Swift’s official website in four special-edition deluxe CDs (“Crystal Skies Blue,” “Rose Garden Pink,” “Aquamarine Green” and “Sunrise Boulevard Yellow”), and will also be issued in “Crystal Skies Blue” vinyl and cassette format.
