Tapir! present their debut album, The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain
South-London-based six-piece Tapir! have shared a new video for "Untitled" – a track from their debut album, The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain.
""Untitled" comes just before the grand finale of the Pilgrim story. We wanted to take inspiration from classic duets such as Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra, Weyes Blood & Tim Heidecker or one of the many collabs by Perfume Genius, to show two voices trying to understand each other and draw a sense of closure," the band explains.
"The irony and tongue-in-cheek lyrics highlight that there isn't always an answer. When you are seeking the truth in a state of confusion, whether that be with identity, religion, success or love, sometimes becoming comfortable with the idea of not having a definitive answer is the best way to continue your journey through life - or in this case, The Pilgrim’s journey to the top of a hill."
The album follows a three-act structure – all of which have been released by Heavenly Recordings as three four-track EPs – telling the story of a solitary traveller, an ambiguous red creature known as The Pilgrim, on a journey across a mythical landscape.
The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain, is out now on Heavenly Recordings.
