Tallin Music Week shares details of its conference schedule for 2025
Tallinn Music Week's conference will explore key challenges and opportunities shaping the music industry. The event will be held at the Nordic Hotel Forum’s conference centre in Tallinn, Estonia, 4-5 April 2025.
The event will cover topics including the European music ecosystem, creative and technological frontiers from AI to gaming, export success metrics, and industry wellbeing. The conference will also spotlight diverse markets, from Ukraine and Taiwan to the Baltics and Canada. The conference opens with a keynote address by Heidy Purga, Estonian Minister of Culture. The ekip (European Cultural and Creative Industries Innovation Policy Platform) Roundtable will also share insights from discussions on the impact of global digital platforms on the music sector.
Under the main theme European Music Ecosystem and Global Collaboration, the two-day programme begins with Setting the Stage: The World We Operate In, establishing the contextual framework for the event. The European Music Ecosystem Presentation will offer insights into Europe's competitive strengths, with contributions from Detlef Schwarte, Director of Reeperbahn Festival, and Dr. Carsten Winter, Professor of Media and Music Management at Hanover University. They will also reflect on the ekip Roundtable’s discussions on the challenges posed by platformisation. Additionally, the conference will explore complex questions around political conflicts, including whether to boycott, cancel, or engage in constructive dialogue.
Attendees will delve into the transformative impact of AI in music through sessions like AI in Music: Disruptor, Co-creator, or Plagiarist? and the panel Masking the Machinery: Can AI Pop Transcend the Uncanny Valley? featuring David "Zero" Reiterer of Austrian group Lucy Dreams. The integration of music in gaming will be explored in The Sound of Play, with speakers like Andrii Zaitsev, CEO of Geisha Ninja Samurai, and Irma de Wind, Music Supervisor at De Wind Music.
Previously announced speakers include Scumeck Sabottka (European promoter of Rammstein, founder of MCT Agentur), Grammy-winning sound engineer Haydn Bendall, Anna van Nunen (Managing Director, ESNS), Jonathan Bunce (Artistic Director, Wavelength Music), Eva Palm (Live Nation promoter for the Baltics), and Britt Randma, manager of Music Moves Europe Award-winning Night Tapes.
