Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and more pay tribute to bandmate Christine McVie
Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood have paid tribute to their bandmate Christine McVie, after it was revealed yesterday (30 November) that she died aged 79.
Yesterday (30 November) evening on Christine McVie's Facebook page, a statement was posted announcing that the Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter had passed away "peacefully at hospital" after a "short illness" aged 79.
Fleetwood Mac's official account across socials shared a statement paying tribute to their late bandmate, writing: "There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one of a kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed."

Stevie Nicks penned a separate tribute to McVie and shared it via Instagram, which read: "A few hours ago I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975 had passed away,” she wrote. “I didn’t even know she was ill…until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London; I wanted to get to London – but we were told to wait…See you on the other side, my love. Don’t forget me."
Mick Fleetwood also paid tribute to his late bandmate, writing, "Part of my heart has flown away today.. I will miss everything about you."

Haim, who were quoted in Nicks' hand-written tribute, wrote on Instagram, "We write this with tears in our eyes and all over our faces. The sisterhood Stevie and Christine had was so vital to us growing up. Seeing two strong women support each other in our favourite band has had such a huge impact on us throughout our lives. From playing “Say That You Love Me” in rockinhaim since 1999 to seeing Christine sing “Over My Head” live in 2015, she has been a constant inspiration. Rip beautiful songbird."
Garbage, Sheryl Crow, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams and many more have also paid tribute to the late singer/songwriter online.

So so sad to hear about Christine McVie an artist I held dear and close to my heart. One of the greatest all time songwriters, singers, and band members, she radiated both purity and sass in equal measure, bringing light to the music of the 70s. RIP. - John pic.twitter.com/MkGqAD1wRV
