Steve Mason links up with OneDa on the reworked single, "Moss Side Fish Fry"
Steve Mason has teamed up with rising Manchester's OneDa to release "Moss Side Fish Fry", a re-working of "Brixton Fish Fry", which is taken from his most recent album, Brothers & Sisters.
Talking about the track, which has been totally overhauled and given a musical re-boot with OneDa providing completely new lyrics and vocals, Steve said: This is special. I have completely re-worked Brixton Fish Fry and was lucky enough to get Manchester’s OneDa to contribute some epic and deep verses to the finished version, now called Moss Side Fish Fry. Currently blowing up all over the place, OneDa is a special talent and I’m privileged to have her on this new version.
The track is accompanied by a video directed by Charlie Barclay Harris featuring One Da shot around her native Manchester and Steve, who appears from a field far, far away.
"I approached this track as I would do a spoken word piece, using my verses in a poetic form, deconstructing the meaning I took from Steve’s lyrics in the chorus. I'm really excited to have an opportunity to share this side of what I do," OneDa added.
"The lyrics I write are of confusion and feeling lost in a world that 'chews you up and spits you out’, not being quite sure where you or anyone else fits in and continuing the journey being fully aware of this. The video complements the words, it’s a straight up, animated performance walking through the streets of Manny".
