Sophie Ellis-Bextor "wasn't quite prepared" for Barry Keoghan's naked dance scene in Saltburn
Speaking to People, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has shared her reacting to seeing Barry Keoghan dance naked to "Murder on the Dancefloor" in his latest film, Saltburn.
In the final scene of the movie, Keoghan’s character Oliver dances naked around a huge stately home naked with Ellis-Bextor’s 2001 track “Murder on the Dancefloor”. The track featured on her debut album, Read My Lips, and is her most successful track to date.
Speaking to People, she revealed that director Emerald Fennell sent her a synopsis of the scene that her song would be featured on, but she was still taken aback by seeing the film's ending."Whenever your music's used, you get a little synopsis. I saw Emerald's name connected to the project and I already was familiar with her and how talented she is. I've seen Promising Young Woman and really enjoyed it," she explained. "This little synopsis described how the character would be dancing, but I didn't have any context. I've got quite a quirky sense of humour anyway, so I was like, I think I have to see how this plays out."

“Seeing it written down as a premise is different. I mean, Barry really went for it. And it’s, like, the whole song! Whenever your music’s used, you get a little… pic.twitter.com/qZRJOJCiFk
She added that it's a different thing to read a synopsis, and then see the actual film: "Barry really went for it. And it's, like, the whole song! I didn't really know exactly how it would play in terms of the role it was in the movie until I saw it at the screening, but I absolutely loved it," she said. "I think it's such a clever, funny, smart film. I really enjoyed it."
"He's never going to be able to hear that in the same way again," she adds, speaking about Keoghan. "Every time he's out and that comes on, people are going to think he's going to strip off!"
