Sleaford Mods unite with Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell for new single "So Trendy"
Sleaford Mods have delivered new single "So Trendy", which features Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell and is the third taster of their UK GRIM album.
After linking with Dry Cleaning's Florence Shaw on last month's "Force 10 From Navarone", Sleaford Mods have unveiled "So Trendy" featuring Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, which will feature on the duo's upcoming album UK GRIM with January's title-track.
Jason Williamson says of the collaboration, "Perry got in touch and said he wanted to work with us. He’s a really cool guy and his back catalogue clearly speaks for itself, so we jumped at it, and "So Trendy" grew from there."
He adds of the song, ""So Trendy" concerns itself with the ongoing polarisation of living life through smart devices. The daily experience is a series of passwords or facial recognitions that lead us into familiar Arenas of consumer marketing and conformity."
The duo's forthcoming album will follow 2021's Spare Ribs album. Williamson says, "Maybe we are proud of the country. Maybe we are proud to be English. Maybe I’m proud of the horrible grey streets and the shit weather and the stupid fashions I find myself investing in. It’s just that the English we’re proud of being is absolutely nothing like the English the authorities want to try and promote."
"So Trendy" featuring Perry Farrell is out now. Sleaford Mods' UK GRIM album will arrive this Friday, 10 March through Rough Trade Records, and is available to pre-order now.
