Sky Ferreira appears to have been removed from the official Capitol Records artist roster
Following years of fans battling to 'Free Sky Ferreira' from her contract at Capitol Records, it seems as though she has been removed from their online artist roster.
Sky Ferreira released her debut album, Night Time, My Time, in 2013. An Instagram fan account for the American singer-songwriter, which has been active since March 2021, has been campaigning for the Ferreira’s release from her record label as it appears to have been holding her back from releasing her second album. “Sky Ferreira has been held hostage by her label Capitol Records for almost a decade,” a pinned post says. “They’ve been blocking the release of her sophomore album Masochism since 2015.”
They've recently shared footage of a billboard in Times Square which read "FREE SKY FERREIRA", as well as flying a banner over the headquarters of Capitol Records with the same message. Last year, she hinted at its release date by sharing an image of Stereogum's most anticipated albums of 2022, which featured her name in the number four spot, and wrote, "Top 5 most anticipated albums of 2022 ... (It happens every year but it's actually coming out this time".

The album never saw its "promised" release in 2022, and earlier this year, she spoke out about the lack of new music, saying her situation is "beyond fucked up" and she's "so frustrated & over it". Earlier this year, she announced tour dates for 2024, which has led fans to believe it is in celebration of the album's eventual release. Ferreira will perform in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Oxford, and Brighton, as well as a date at London's KOKO on 26 March.
Now that fans have spotted that Ferreira has been removed from the Capitol Records website, the prospects are looking up for the long-awaited second album, almost a decade after her debut was released.
