Sigur Rós, Warpaint and Bat For Lashes among first names for Christine and the Queens' Meltdown
The first acts playing this year’s Meltdown festival curated by Christine and the Queens have been announced, featuring Sigur Rós, Warpaint, Bat For Lashes and more.
Django Django will kick off the 2023 edition of the ten-date festival curated by Christine and the Queens on 9 June, followed by Yemi Alade, Moonchild Sanelly, Warpaint, KOKOROKO, Oxlade, Sigur Rós with the London Contemporary Orchestra, Sqürl, Johnny Jewel, Bat For Lashes, Lynks, serpentwithfeet, Let’s Eat Grandma, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Soap&Skin.
Christine and the Queens will also perform at Meltdown, giving two shows at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on 17 and 18 June.
He says of the line-up announcement, "Art to save the city! Ten nights that are ours. Southbank Centre filled with beloved artists, some I discovered recently, some I know are amazing performers and poets. Dance. Theatre. Words and music. Friends and future friends. Raving, hopefully. Art to save the city! To free its contours and enliven the soul - it’s the why we do what we do. I can’t effing wait."
Just last week Christine and the Queens announced his new album PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE, which will feature collaborations with Madonna and 070 Shake.
