serpentwithfeet announces brand new theatrical show Heart of Brick
Groundbreaking alternative R&B artist and polymath serpentwithfeet announces his new theatrical dance show with an all-star team in collaboration with the renowned Joyce Theatre.
With a cast of seven queer Black dancers and live performance by serpentwithfeet, Heart of Brick follows the love that blossoms between two men in a Black gay nightclub.
Heart of Brick is created by serpentwithfeet, co-written by award winning poet Donte Collins, directed by multimedia artist Wu Tsang, choreographed by dance-theatre artist Raja Feather Kelly and produced by The Joyce Theatre Foundation.
“The dance floor has been a medium for Black queer people to decompress and build community. Going out has given me incentive to go inward and I am a better person because of it. Engaging the body is essential to engaging the spirit. I have Proof," he says.
The international premiere is from 10-13 August at Kampnagel Festival in Hamburg, Germany, with a US premiere kicking off at the The Joyce Theater in New York City from 15-22 September, followed by a full US run of shows.
Tickets to Heart of Brick go on sale on 13 July and can be purchased at serpentwithfeet.co.
