Self Esteem is set to be made an honorary Doctor of Music at University of Sheffield
Self Esteem – AKA Rebecca Lucy Taylor – is set to be awarded an honorary degree from the University of Sheffield.
Later today, Taylor will be made an honorary Doctor of Music at the South Yorkshire university, as announced by the university itself.
"We are delighted to announce that Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aka Self Esteem, is being awarded an honorary degree today for her success in music and public championing of inclusivity and diversity," their statement read.
She joins 11 other notable public figures with links to the city who will be awarded honorary degrees in the summer graduation ceremonies, including Olympic gold medalist hockey player Hollie Pearne-Webb

Taylor is a proud ambassador for Sheffield, performing at Glastonbury 2022 in a Meadowhall-inspired outfit, in support of her 2021 second album, Prioritise Pleasure.
Speaking of the award, Taylor says: "I am insanely chuffed to be receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Sheffield. I love Sheffield with all my heart and to be acknowledged like this bolsters my dream of changing so much for people in music like me. I am overwhelmed, galvanised and energised!"
