Bristol four-piece Scaler (fka Scalping) have shared a new single, “New Symbols” which was produced by critically acclaimed electronic musician and DJ, Daniel Avery.

The single follows their recent return under their new name, as well as recent Avery produced single "LOAM", which marked a new chapter for SCALER. Not only did the band change their name, but their collaboration with Daniel Avery has seen them lean further into their club and dance-based influences. They connected with one another following the release of their highly praised 2022 debut album, Void.

Speaking on the single, Scaler says: "With "New Symbols" we wanted to act quickly on our instincts and create something a bit more rough and ready. We started with a sturdy, winding groove before adding the blasts of alien vocals and industrial noise. The focus was exploring different flavours of distortions across all instruments whilst remaining functional at its core, which we especially enjoyed sculpting in the middle shoegazey section - which is particularly fun live."

Speaking on the track Daniel Avery adds: "The noisy, younger sibling to Loam. This one was alive from the beginning but when asked to fan the flames I happily obliged."

SCALER have also shared details of a UK headline tour to come in November 2023, including a date a London's 9294, with support from experimental hip-hop and electronica collective Nukuluk. Having recently been nominated for Best Live Performer at the AIM Awards 2023, the dates follow an extremely run of summer festival appearances including a set at Glastonbury and a packed-out headline slot at ArcTanGent, as well as performances at Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, Visions, Standon Calling, Bluedot Festival, and many more.

"New Symbols" is out now.
