Samia delivers new tracks "Breathing Song" and "Honey"
Ahead of releasing her Honey album this Friday (27 January), Samia has unveiled two final tracks from the record - "Breathing Song" and "Honey".
"Breathing Song" and "Honey" are the final previews of Samia's Honey album, which will also feature last year's "Pink Balloon", "Sea Lions", "Mad At Me" and "Kill Her Freak Out" singles.
Samia says, "Tried writing "Breathing Song" a thousand times and couldn’t get it right. Played one of its iterations for Molly Sarlé on zoom and she was like “you just told me a really powerful story before you played this, write it again and just tell the story,” so I did; I just said what happened, from my perspective. Got to play it for her again when it was finished and we cried. "Honey" takes place in the same world as "Breathing Song". It’s about always being drunk enough that you don’t have to look around. To me it’s the saddest song I’ve ever written, because it’s mocking my attempt to convince people I was good. Caleb Wright turned it into a campfire song, though, and I love that it can be interpreted as fun too."
Honey will follow Samia's 2020 debut album The Baby, and was recorded at Sylvan Esso's North Carolina studio Betty's. The album, produced by Caleb Wright, features contributions from Christian Lee Hutson, Briston Maroney, Jake Luppen and Raffaella.
"Breathing Song" and "Honey" are both out now. Samia's Honey album will be released via Grand Jury Music on Friday (27 January), and is available to pre-order now.
