Sam Smith links with Kim Petras on new track "Unholy"
Sam Smith has joined forces with Kim Petras for a new song called "Unholy", which is also the lead outing from Smith's upcoming fourth album that's yet to be announced.
The new collaboration with Kim Petras, recorded in Jamaica, is produced by ILYA, Blake Slatkin, Cirkut, Omer Fendi and Jimmy Napes, and is the lead single from Smith's forthcoming album.
Smith says, ""Unholy" was made in Jamaica and was one of the most glorious creative moments I’ve ever had as an artist. I’ve never had so much fun making a record. It was so cathartic and freeing to experiment like this and throw out the rule book. It has also been an honour to work with Kim and get to witness her brilliance. This song is about liberating oneself from the clutches of others’ secrets…"
Petras adds, "I am such a big fan of Sam. It is cool to meet another artist who is a really good writer and has a vision that’s their own. I had the best time in the studio with them. They really believed in me and encouraged me to be totally myself. I feel so honoured that they chose me to be on this song."
"Unholy" is Smith's first release since joining Cat Burns on an updated version of her "go" track in June, and follows Petras' cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" that arrived in the same month.
"Unholy" featuring Kim Petras is out now. Sam Smith is yet to announce their fourth album.
