Run The Jewels' El-P, Steve Albini and more pay tribute to Low's Mimi Parker
El-P of Run The Jewels, Steve Albini and others have shared tributes to Low's Mimi Parker after it was revealed yesterday (6 November) that she died aged 55.
Yesterday (6 November) Mimi Parker's husband and Low bandmate Alan Sparhawk revealed on socials that "she passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours." Parker was 55, and had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020.
Sparhawk added, "Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing."
Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but

She passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours. Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing.
Last month Sparhawk shared a statement cancelling Low's UK and European tour dates in November due to "recent developments and changes" with Parker's cancer treatment.
Following Parker's passing, El-P of Run The Jewels, Steve Albini, Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite, Okkervil River's Will Sheff, Ben Watt, Maxïmo Park's Paul Smith and more have paid tribute to the late musician on Twitter.
thank you Mimi Parker

I heard the news in the most base circumstances, surrounded by degenerates, stuck and cursing, in a conference room in Deerfield. I was momentarily overwhelmed, the sound of her voice resonant in my memory, beautiful and heartbreaking. Godspeed Mimi Parker. Requiescat.

Mimi Parker’s voice had such depth and mystery - icy and opaque but also somehow warm and motherly, an uncannily perfect complement to Alan Sparhawk. And she had such presence onstage. She gifted Low with their extraordinarily powerful sense of gravity. Rest In Peace.

Just unbearably sad to hear of the death of Low's Mimi Parker. My heart goes out to Alan and their family. I feel honoured that our paths crossed more than once

Mimi Parker was one of my favourite singers (from one of my favourite bands). MP were blessed to record with her - it was one of the best days ever. Very sad tonight at the awful news & sending love to Alan & family. pic.twitter.com/ukWPIBprw9

Incredibly saddened and moved by the news of Mimi Parker passing. Some are seemingly too good for this earth. The music of Low has always held a special type of resonance with me
