Romy and Self Esteem feature on Tom Rasmussen's forthcoming second album, Live Wire
Tom Rasmussen has announced their forthcoming second album, Live Wire, alongside the brand new single “Nobody’s Love”.
Live Wire is set to be the record where Rasmussen truly comes into their own as an artist and performer, striking the perfect balance between pleasure and pathos – the template which was laid out by their debut Body Building.
Speaking of the release, they say: “In my work I’ve always tried to focus on what’s useful to a listener or a reader. When I started writing Live Wire I tried to write something beautiful. I wanted to write about fun, sex, euphoria. And that’s the first part of the album — I’m fucking, I’m partying, I’m having oysters for lunch and ass for dinner. But of course that quickly became existential for me — I found writing became tiring and uninspiring the less questions I was asking, and so I started asking questions of whether the pursuit of ease, of happiness is enough without asking questions. Without allowing in grace or pain or sadness or the ache of living today, living in any age."
"I think this in fact made way for much more beautiful work, much more beautiful songs," they continue. "It’s all full circle, and I’m really lucky to have been pushed and pulled by my label Globe Town and my collaborators — notably Finlay Henderson, Kieran Brunt, Romy and Self Esteem — to make something that I think shows without telling. The question of the album really is: is it enough to be happy? I don’t think so.”
Live Wire, is set for release on 9 October via Globe Town Records.
