
Rihanna responds to Emmy nominations for Super Bowl Halftime show
The Primetime Emmy Awards nominations have been released, and Rihanna is among the list of highest nominations.
Despite having not released any new music since 2016's ANTI, barring a string of collaborations with Calvin Harris, N.E.R.D, and the title track for Wakanda Forever – "Lift Me Up" – Rihanna somehow continues to break records, and win awards.
Recently, she celebrated being the first female artist to have ten songs streaming on Spotify with one billion streams, and now, she's been nominated at the Emmy Awards for the first time in her career. Taking to her socials, she celebrated by saying: "5 EMMY NOMZ is craaaaazzzyyy!!! Im so grateful for every single person involved in creating these memories!”
Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show performance in which she revealed her second pregnancy, scored five Emmy nominations – Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork For A Special.
Her set including a medley of songs including "Rude Boy", "Diamonds" and "Work", as the Philadelphia Eagles played the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium. Jay-Z was also nominated for an Emmy Award due to his role in directing Rihanna's set.
This takes him to a total of three primetime Emmy nominations, including a win for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which featured performances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and a nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which featured a performance by The Weeknd

The 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards takes place on 19 September.
