Rhodes gets introspective on his brand new single "Happy"
London-based singer/songwriter RHODES returns with the new single "Happy".
"Happy" follows RHODES’ second album, Friends Like These, which was released earlier this year, and was recorded during lockdown alongside producers Rich Cooper and Ash Workman (Christine and the Queens, Metronomy).
“"Happy" is a song about opening our eyes and trying to find happiness in the moment. We live in a world of constant change and huge societal pressure and I felt, for a long time, that I’d been chasing the wrong things in life. It’s easy to hide behind a facade or behind social media, but it just masks what’s really going on underneath, and I know now that I owe it to myself and the people I love to be more present and mindful," says RHODES.
"Ultimately, I believe happiness is ours to grab we just have to be open to it and I wanted to write about the hope in knowing that if we keep trying we can find true contentment in everything we have.”
Earlier this year, RHODES released the EP The Pool Sessions – a selection of tracks from Friends Like These performed live at The Pool Studios in London.
Friends Like These marked his first album release since the 2015 debut Wishes, which included hit single "Let It All Go" featuring Birdy.
