Primavera Sound Madrid cancels their opening day due to bad weather
The cancellation of Primavera Sound Madrid's opening day affects headlining sets from Blur and Halsey.
After holding its Barcelona edition last weekend, Primavera Sound is currently being held in Madrid. After their opening night, yesterday (7 June) – which featured performances from Pet Shop Boys, Confidence Man, and Jake Bugg – the festival was set to have its full opening day today.
Due to "persistent severe weather experienced in recent weeks that have affected the pre-production of the festival and in view of the adverse forecast that is expected", organisers of the festival, alongside the city council and local police force, have decided to cancel today's scheduled line-up out of safety concerns.
Thursday's schedule had included headliners Blur and Halsey, as well as New Order, Le Tigre, NxWorries, Turnstile, Loyle Carner, Alex G, Alison Goldfrapp, Black Country New Road, PinkPantheress, Self Esteem, Sudan Archives, The Comet is Coming, Yard Act, Blondshell, and more.
Day ticket holders for Thursday are able to use their tickets for either Friday or Saturday. Refunds will automatically be issued to anyone who does not use their ticket, once the festival is over.
Primavera Sound Madrid festival takes place from 8-10 June at the Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey.
