Celebrating their 25th anniversary showcasing indie, alt-rock, and hip hop music, Noise Pop has continued to grow over the years, and certainly isn’t backing down in 2017. With more than 150 acts spanning 11 days throughout multiple venues across San Francisco and Oakland, it’s going to be hard to narrow down which acts to attend, but we’ve got you covered with five can’t-miss shows.
1. Wed 2/22: Desert Daze Caravan ft. Temples
It wasn’t too long ago we were immersed under the stars in Joshua Tree Park at the 5th annual Desert Daze Festival. By far, the stand out was English rockers, Temples, and we couldn’t be more excited they’re back headlining The Chapel on the 22 February. With their sophomore album Volcano due out 3 March, we can only hope the night will be a preview of some new tracks.
2. Thurs 2/23: PWR BTTM @ Starline Social Club
It’s no doubt that queer glitter punks PWR BTTM will be a stand out in this year’s festival. Always showcasing a strong range of self-expression, the night will be sure to encompass a feeling of power and solidarity. The duo’s second record Pageant is set for 12 May, and the night will be sure to feature new material – hopefully with lots of confetti included.
3. Sat 2/25: Vince Staples @ Fox Theater
California native Vince Staples has certainly made a name for himself since his 2014 debut. Bringing an undeniable powerful live show, it’s been proven this 23-year- old has an even brighter future ahead, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.
4. Sat 2/25: Tennis @ Great American Music Hall
Denver-based power couple, Tennis, have announced the release of their fourth album Unconditionally Yours, set to release in March. Judging from the two tracks already released – "Ladies Don’t Play Guitar" and "In the Morning I’ll Be Better", we can expect a night of dreamy, mesmerizing music.
Sun 2/26: Grandaddy @ Bimbo’s 365 Club
Debuting their first new music in ten years, it’s no surprise the excitement surrounding Grandaddy’s performance. After 2006’s farewell album, and a few reunion shows since, this will be the band’s first performance with a new album in tow, and our ears will be eagerly waiting.
