ID10T Music Festival 2017: Five To See
Ah yes, yet another new festival. However, ID10T (pronounced I-D-ten-T) is all that but just a little bit more (not to mention it is hosted by Nerdist creator Chris Hardwick). Aside from the music, this festival brings comedy, comics, gaming, technology, and anything and everything pop culture. Set in beautiful Mountain View, California, we chose five of our favourite artists that you'd be an idiot not to see during the two-day event.
1. Animal Collective
In a festival setting that is sure to bring the weird, Animal Collective will feel right at home. It’s been a busy year for the group, as 2016 brought their 10th studio album Painting With, followed up with 2017’s The Painters EP, and more recently Meeting of the Waters, the EP captured in the Amazon Rainforest. While everyone is sure to be mesmerised by their always stunning visuals, fans should be on the lookout for many unheard, never-before-performed-live tunes.
2. Ron Gallo
There are always those acts where you think to yourself, ‘why haven’t I discovered them sooner?’ …and Ron Gallo is just that. Rock ‘n roll with a splash of poetry, Ron Gallo makes you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. Heavy Meta has been a standout record this year, and Gallo is sure to be a standout at ID10t Fest.
3. Weezer
It’s no surprise Weezer makes the list. I mean, it’s Weezer. With an impressive catalogue that spans nearly 22 years, we’re sure to be given old favourites, and what are sure to be new favourites. 2016 brought The White Album, and 2017 will see their latest, The Black Album. It seems like these guys never stop… and we’re okay with that.
4. Mothers
Athens natives, Mothers, have been making quite the names for themselves over the past few years. With just one album under their belt, When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired, the foursome still always manage to bring an energy and unique perspective to their songs to keep it interesting. And who knows, maybe we’ll get some new tracks that could be on the way with their second LP?
5. Car Seat Headrest
Car Seat Headrest’s Teens of Denial was undeniable highlight of 2016. While the band gained more mainstream success with that album’s release, Will Toledo already has 12 albums under his belt. Their live performance is so polished and dynamic; it’s no denial they continue to be a fast-rising rock act, and you shouldn’t miss that.
