Welcome to the first weekly 2013 round-up of shows happening in the grand concert halls, dimly lit basements, airy cafe’s and grimy sweatboxes across the UK and Ireland. All acts featured come with the Best Fit ‘Seal Of Approval’ so you can be assured that your hard earned cash will be well spent. The first weeks of the year always seem to offer up some slim pickings, to tempt your wallets this week we’ve gathered dates from the likes of Thumpers, Wolf Alice and Ides.
Thumpers @ The Green Door Store, Brighton 04/01
With a 7″ due out via paradYse records and cassette on Kissability these Londoners are very much poised for greatness in 2013. The work of childhood friends Marcus Pepperell and John Hamson Jr., Thumpers combine rich, velvety instrumental textures and effortlessly irresistible vocal harmonies.

Wolf Alice @ Old Blue Last, London 08/01

Palma Violets @ The Forum, Tunbridge Wells 09/01
With all the buzz surrounding South London four-piece Palma Violets you would be foolish to miss this opportunity to catch their post punk inspired sounds ahead of the release of their debut full length 180 on 25 February.

Ides @ Bull & Gate, London 10/01
The vocal talent in the wonderfully tempestuous indie ramblings of Joanna Gruesome, Ides tentative offerings sound like they’d collapse in the lightest of breezes as hushed vocals and gently strummed electric chords swell with an almost incomprehensible amount of heartbreak.
