Welcome to our weekly round-up of what’s happening in the grand concert halls, dimly lit basements, airy cafe’s and grimy sweatboxes across the UK. All acts featured come with the Best Fit ‘Seal Of Approval’ so you can be assured that your hard earned cash will be well spent. To tempt your wallets this week, we’ve gathered dates from the likes of Julia Holter, Poliça and Stealing Sheep.
The Hundred in the Hands @ The Portland Arms, Cambridge 01/06
Having bonded over vintage hip-hop and French techno, Brooklyn based duo leanore Everdell and Jason Friedman, otherwise known as The Hundred in The Hands, are gearing up to release their second album Red Night via Warp later this month following the release of their sorely overlooked debut and tonight promises the rare opportunity to hear the new material live.

Doldrums @ Birthdays, London 01/06
Tonight promises an array of sweaty cacophonous, calamitous beats from the Canadian producer Eric Woodhead and his recently gathered live troops. It comes as no surprise that he is on tour with Grimes: his chopped up samples, woozy nostalgia and kaleidoscopic freak outs underpinned by a playful, yet frustrated experience of an increasingly plastic youth culture.

Julia Holter @ International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Manchester 03/06
Grounded in more classic avant garde compositions, Julia Holter’s delicately arranged, irresistible pop melodies exist in that perfect space between abstract gloom, cold sensuality and dreamy indulgence.

Dauwd @ The Kazimier, Liverpool 05/06
Carving out a distinct ambient sound is no mean feet these days with everyone and their laptop being labeled a bedroom producer but Welsh man Dauwd has managed to do it with seeming ease, the magnetism of his gently clattering beats pulling on everything around him.

Simian Ghost & Stealing Sheep, The Bodega Social Club, Nottingham 05/06
The Line of Best Fit UK tour hits Nottingham tonight with Liverpool psych-folk darlings Stealing Sheep and Sweden’s Sebastian Arnström, whose delicate, shimmering productions are released into the world under the name Simian Ghost.

Wavves @ Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London 06/06
It seems only right that Nathan Williams and his band of LA beach punks return to our shores in the blistering heat to dish up their own particular brand of frenzied, made-for-summer, noise pop.
Tickets are available now. RSVP via Facebook. Check out more dates here.
Poliça @ Camp Basement, London 07/06
Give You The Ghost is fast becoming a contender for my favourite album of the year: its slick grooves, understated emotional intensity and sultry vocals are just so damn irresistible.
