While London’s Field Day has been the focus of our calendars for this coming weekend, there’s other musical delights underway a few hours north as the Stockton Weekender festival returns to the eponymous Teesside town. Our writer – and local resident – Emma Smith, provides a run down of what to expect in the next few days:
“In keeping with tradition the weather’s bound to be ghastly but us northerners are made of sterner stuff so a bit of rain won’t stop the crowds braving the elements to see what’s on offer.
Highlights will be Seasick Steve and his legendary, yarn-weaving, magnetic live show, Maximo Park playing a homecoming set, The Chapman Family’s guitar-led assault and Kitty, Daisy & Lewis with their brand of vintage charm.
There’s also Collectors Club, Saint Saviour, Team Me, Pete Molinari, Chased by Wolves and tons of local favourites. The Sound it Out documentary – in tribute to the much loved local record store – will be shown and and there’s after-parties in the gothic splendour of The Georgian theatre.”
Tickets are still available from the Stockton Weekender Entrance, Riverside Road, Stockton. More information on their website.
