With a stunning new site and lofty production values, Bloc looks set to become a real contender to Sonar’s electronic crown. We’ve compiled a list of twelve of the weekend’s must-see acts to help you plan your weekend itinerary.

Friday

Steve Reich & Bang On A Can Allstars

Resident Advisor Hub // 18:00

Bang On A Can’s most recent show was stymied by a poor choice of work. Regardless of which Reich they choose to play, we wager they won’t have the same problem here.

Amon Tobin: ISAM

Main Arena // 21:00

The Brazilian producer’s stunning live show, consisting of dozens of shapeshifting boxes, looks set to be one of the weekend’s most visually impressive.

Nathan Fake

Laderaum // 01:00

Ahead of the release of his third album, the Border Community stalwart brings his tape-warmed techno to the hull of the extraordinary MS Stubnitz.

Richie Hawtin

Main Arena // 02:00

Having crafted one of Sonar’s most enjoyable sets, the Canadian DJ makes his Bloc debut. One of the most anticipated appearances of the weekend.

Ricardo Villalobos

Resident Advisor Hub // 04:00

The much-loved Chilean institution follows Hawtin in the Resident Advisor Hub for another two hours on the border of minimal techno and microhouse.

Addison Groove

Stubnitz Atrium // 05:00

Saturday

Gary Numan

Main Arena // 18:00
Kohled synth-pop pioneer (and seemingly Very Nice Man) provides an excellent reason to get back onsite early.

Luke Vibert

Ceephax Acid Waltzers // 20:00

The multi-monikered genre-hopper will appear on some waltzers in the middle of the site. This could go one of two ways.

Monolake

Resident Advisor Hub // 00:00

At his first Bloc performance Robert Henke opted to play in the crowd, where he “could actually play with the PA, where I could shape every detail, every wave of bass, every single snare sound.” This year he has his own surround sound system in tow, along with Dutch visual artist Tarik Barri, to perform the followup to the stunning ATOM project.

A.T.O.L

Resident Advisor Hub // 02:15

The Berlin ‘supergroup’, consisting of Modeselektor, Shed, and Marcel Dettman, make a rare British appearance.

Jon Hopkins

Laderaum // 03:00
He’s worked with Coldplay – but when he’s capable of work as beautiful as his recent Luke Abbott cover, we can forgive him even that.

Kode 9

Stubnitz Atrium // 04:30

Having been responsible for another Sonar highlight, the sonic warfare expert closes a seven-hour Hyperdub marathon.
