Like an older, more mature sibling handing you a pint of water and some pain killers after a heady night on the town, Apple Cart Festival returns to Victoria Park the day after Field Day for a more relaxed day of music, magic and comedy. Only in this case it is Apple Cart that is the younger of the two, returning for only its second year with performances from the likes of Josh T. Pearson, Beth Jeans Houghton and Marques Toliver plus stand-up from Miles Jupp, Sean Lock and Josie Long not to mention Rich Halls’ Hoedown. If you’re wondering where you’ll be able to find us on Sunday though we’ll most likely be darting between our very own stage and the main stage for these choice musical picks.

The ex-Lift To Experience frontman will undoubtedly deliver a set of bruised, brutal and beautiful guitar numbers, promising less a headline performance, more a late night journey through his emotionally torn landscape.

Beth Jeans Houghton

The time spent in LA has done wonders for Newcastle-upon Tyne anti-folk singer Beth Jeans Houghton, whose recent release as Beth Jeans Houghton and The Hooves of Destiny is big, brash and and wonderfully chaotic.

We’ve not heard much from Marques Toliver since the release of his 2011 debut Butterflies Are Not Free but in possession of such an incredibly raw talent we’re pretty sure he’s going to come up with some gems this weekend.
