PJ Harvey scores the second season of TV series, Bad Sisters
PJ Harvey has collaborated with composer Tim Phillips to score the second season of the Apple TV+ series, Bad Sisters.
As part of the score, PJ Harvey has shared a cover of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division.
“It was a huge pleasure to be invited to step into the studio again with Tim Phillips to create the soundtrack for ‘Bad Sisters Season 2’. Having formed friendships with Tim and Sharon on season 1, there was a level of trust and openness which was conducive to creativity," Harvey says. "Our version of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ is full of the passion we hold for the original song, but also imbued with the spirit of the new series and its narrative.”
Two years ago, the pair collaborated on the first season for Bad Sisters, with PJ Harvey sharing a rendition of the traditional folk song, "Run On", as well as a cover of Leonard Cohen's 1974 track "Who By Fire".
At the time, she said: "It was a very enjoyable day spent recording the version of Leonard Cohen’s "Who By Fire" for Bad Sisters. I had spoken to Sharon Horgan in advance of the recording session, so I understood why she felt the song’s lyric was so perfect for the series, but also understood what nuances of Leonard's performance she most loved, and therefore what to try and recapture but in my own way."
The official soundtrack to Bad Sisters is now available.
