PJ Harvey dedicates “The Desperate Kingdom Of Love” to Steve Albini

The pair had worked together on Harvey's seminal 1993 album, Rid Of Me. Albini was set to perform at the festival with his band Shellac as they have just released their latest album, To All Trains. Instead, the festival dedicated a stage to Albini, as it was revealed that he had died of a heart attack at the age of 61.

Leading the tributes to the late producer, Harvey wrote at the time: "Meeting Steve Albini and working with him changed the course of my life. He taught me so much about music, and life. Steve was a great friend - wise, kind and generous. I am so grateful." Now, she has dedicated a performance to him, at one of his favourite festivals.

“I would like to sing this next song in memory of Steve Albini. Steve should have been here for this festival, and it would be nice if you all think of him," Harvey said ahead of performing the track “The Desperate Kingdom Of Love”, which features on her 2004 album, Uh Huh Her. The dedication begins around the 50-minute mark.
