Pixey teases debut album with "Give A Little Of Your Love"
Liverpool based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Pixey has shared her new track "Give A Little Of Your Love" taken from her forthcoming debut album, Million Dollar Baby.
Produced by Pixey herself, "Give A Little Of Your Love" is a nod to the endurance of classic love songs, and harks back to the soulful simplicity of the 60’s. Pixey says “I’m not one to write about romantic love usually - I often find it’s been written about far too much, but I actually found myself drawn towards this sentiment when I was writing over the instrumental of this song to try and make sense of feelings I had at the time (which doesn’t happen very often).”
“I pitched an old royalty free sample in Ableton and threw a drum loop over the top, then went in and added hi-hats, midi synth and programmed strings," she continues. "It nods to William Onyeabor’s ‘Atomic Bomb’, a track that sparked my initiation into music. This song is a heartfelt plea for love, beautifully uncomplicated.”
The track follows recent singles, "Bring Back The Beat", "Miss American Dream", "The Thrill Of It", and album title track, "Million Dollar Baby".
To celebrate the release of Million Dollar Baby, Pixey will be embarking on a run of in-store dates including Rough Trade West and an album launch party at Jacaranda in her hometown Liverpool. Tickets for her September headline tour are also on sale now which include London’s Lower Third on the 25th, and Arts Club in Liverpool on the 28th.
Million Dollar Baby is set for release on 2 August via Chess Club Records.
