Pickle Darling signs to Father/Daughter Records and releases new single "King of Joy"
New Zealand artist and producer Pickle Darling has announced their signing to Father/Daughter Records, and has unveiled new single "King of Joy" to accompany the news.
"King of Joy" is Pickle Darling's first new material since 2021's Cosmonaut album, and Pickle Darling, real name Lukas Mayo, explains that they "stole the title from the Richard Chiem book I was reading at the time."
They add, "I was trying to do something like a Guided By Voices or Tony Molina song, something like "Game Of Pricks" where everything is super melodic and super compact and high energy."
As well as signing to Father/Daughter Records and releasing "King of Joy", the Christchurch-based artist will make their US live debut at SXSW in March.
Pickle Darling's "King of Joy" single is out now.
