Phoebe Bridgers contributed to a song on Shame's new album
One of the tracks on Shame's upcoming album Food for Worms features a hidden cameo from Phoebe Bridgers, but drummer Charlie Forbes says you "can’t actually hear" it.
It's been a big week for Phoebe Bridgers. In the past 24 hours, her boygenius supergroup with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker announced their debut album, and she was announced as a featured artist on The National and Arlo Parks' new albums, and according to Shame, their Dead Oceans labelmate Bridgers also contributed to their forthcoming album Food For Worms.
Shame's drummer Charlie Forbes told NME of Bridgers contributing to their "Adderall" song, "We thought the song had an American edge to it, and thought it would sound nice with a woman’s voice."
He added, "By chance, she was recording in the same studio as us, and one day we did a trade where Josh went and did some tambourine on her new track, and she came in and did the vocal line on our track – which you can’t actually hear at all."
So far Shame have released two singles from their Food For Worms album - "Six-Pack" and "Fingers of Steel". The album will follow 2021's Drunk Tank Pink album, and is described by lead vocalist Charlie Steen as "the Lamborghini of Shame records." Shame recorded the album while playing festivals all over Europe, and it's produced by Flood.
Shame's Food for Worms album will land via Dead Oceans on 24 February, and is available to pre-order now.
