Pharrell's new album Phriends will feature a BTS collaboration
In a new interview for Rolling Stone with BTS' RM, Pharrell revealed that his next album will be titled Phriends, and that it features a collaboration with BTS, which was recorded remotely.
When asked by RM if he has any upcoming projects, Pharrell replied, "Well, my project, it’s called . . . it’s [under] my name, and the title of the album is Phriends. It’s the volume one. You guys [BTS] are on there, obviously. And I’m actually talking about this way more than I’m supposed to, but it’s a song from my album that [BTS] sang and it’s amazing, and I’m super grateful."
In the conversation, RM revealed his solo album is 90% done, and Pharrell offered to work with him on it. "But I’m just going to put this out there," Pharrell said. "You said you’re 90 percent done with your solo album. But if within that last 10 percent, if you need — you don’t need me, but I mean . . ."
RM responded by saying "I always needed you, for 15 years," leading Pharrell to reply, "OK, well, if you want to do something, we can actually do it."
Last month it was announced that BTS will move forward with completing their mandatory military service in South Korea, and will reunite as a group in 2025.
Earlier today (1 November) Big Hit Music said BTS' RM is "currently working" on his solo album.
