Emily Perry – AKA Pem has shared "gut health" as the latest single from her forthcoming EP, cloud work.
"gut health explores body memory, ‘gut’ feelings, and resilience," Pem explains. "I wrote it in the aftermath of an assault that happened some years ago. Using the metaphor of water (sinking, washing, floating) I wanted to express a feeling of being submerged under difficult memory, trying to wash it away whilst watching life carry on as normal above. Ultimately it’s a hopeful song about growth, renewal and the importance of following the gut!”
cloud work is a collection of five songs that Pem wrote during an intensely challenging chapter in her life. Full of references to water, sky, flight, memory, and birds, these are the metaphors and symbols that helped her work through the grief of losing her father last year. She says, “the process of creating ‘cloud work’ enabled me to find beauty, meaning and comfort in a very difficult time."
cloud work, is set for release on 7 June via Fascination Street Records.
