Patrick Wolf marks 20 years of debut EP with new song "Enter the Day"
Patrick Wolf has returned with a new song titled "Enter the Day", which also arrives on the 20th anniversary of his debut EP.
"Enter the Day" is Wolf's first official outing since his Sundark and Riverlight album in 2012, and arrives 20 years on from his debut EP The Patrick Wolf EP.
The track was written, produced and arranged by Wolf, and is the closing song of a new EP titled The Night Safari that's due to arrive in 2023.
Stereogum reports that Wolf said of the song, "A charcoal drawing of a sparrow hawk was the last work my mother was making before she died and when I took my first walk to explore the land around my new home back when I moved to live by the sea, a sparrow hawk was soaring over me in silence at the mouth of the bay, that afternoon I went home to my upright piano and began writing this song, which ended up becoming an epilogue to the narrative of The Night Safari EP. As producer I crafted this song as a bridge out of the plaintive production of Sundark & Riverlight to where the new EP will safari the listener to.
