Paramore bring "Misery Business" out of retirement at first live show in four years
Paramore played their first live show in four years over the weekend, and as well a giving "This Is Why" its live debut, they brought "Misery Business" out of retirement.
After returning with news of their upcoming album and sharing the title-track "This Is Why" last week, Paramore also made their live return at the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield yesterday (2 October), where they gave their new single its first live performance.
Paramore opened their first live show in four years with "This Is Why", and just before the encore, Paramore treated fans to their "Misery Business" hit, which they previously removed from their setlist after receiving backlash about a lyric in 2018.
Before playing the song, Hayley Williams told the crowd, "Four years ago, we said we were gonna retire this song for a little while, and I guess technically we did. But what we did not know was that just about five minutes after I got cancelled for saying the word 'whore' in a song, all of TikTok decided that it was ok. Make it make sense."

This Is Why will follow Paramore's 2017 album After Laughter, and was recorded in LA with longtime collaborator Carlos de la Garza. It'll feature 10 songs in total, but the tracklist is yet to be revealed.
"This Is Why" is out now. Paramore's album of the same name will be released via Atlantic Records on 10 February 2023, and is available to pre-order now.
