Paige Bea releases new single and EP title track, "Flutters"
London-based singer, songwriter and producer Paige Bea has released new single "Flutters".
The track is the title track and final preview of her three-track EP featuring the two previously released singles "Worth It" and "Floods".
"The song all started out in an online session in July 2022, I was in the attic of my family home on the outskirts of London in the middle of the most intensive heatwave London had ever seen, nursing the worst break-up I had ever had. Gabe and I had these sessions booked in for weeks and despite the fact I’d only been dumped about 3 days before, I was determined to not make some fleeting relationship impact my music. The problem was, everything was so raw, so I tried to write what became Flutters but the lyrics felt too intense and we called it a day," Bea explains.
"We didn’t reopen the project until almost a year later when I was in Gabe’s bedroom studio in Berlin - and we realised that the very last word of the tormented frustrated first verse was one of the hookiest hooks we’d ever heard," she continues. "From there, the song took on a whole new life, so much so that we first split the two parts into different tracks, but then - despite the fact short songs stream best - decided to stitch them back together, the hook felt even more satisfying after a long, morose build-up."
Flutters is out now via DMY Artists with support from Help Musicians. Paige Bea headlines The Lower Third in London on 13 November.
