Orlando Weeks debuts new song "Dig" live in session for Best Fit
Former Maccabees vocalist Orlando Weeks came straight from recording on the Isle of Wight to perform a brand new song titled "Dig" live in session exclusively for The Line of Best Fit in partnership with Crouch End Studios.
Weeks hasn't released new music since joining Chartreuse on "Satellites" in September last year, but today (27 February) he's given Best Fit the exclusive first performance of "Dig", a new song created during a recording session at Isle of Wight's Chale Abbey Studios just a couple of days prior to filming. For the session at Crouch End Studios, Weeks is joined by a live band made up of William Doyle, Luca Caruso, Sami El-Enany and Alexander Painter.
Weeks tells Best Fit of the track: "The song is a going nowhere conversation where 'Sure... sure, I've heard it all before' promises are made.
"Inspired by Robert Wyatt's "Just As You Are", the final recorded version of this will be a duet. When we recorded the session this version of the song was a couple of days old, and Sami El-Enany's piano part was improvised for the performance."
His latest album Hop Up arrived in January 2022. He'll play London's Heaven on 17 March. Visit orlandoweeks.co.uk for tickets.
