NZCA LINES releases title track from forthcoming EP, Universal Heartbreak
NZCA LINES, the project of the producer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Lovett, shares the title track to his forthcoming EP.
“Universal Heartbreak” follows the release of the EP's first single and self-directed video, “Push Reset”.
Speaking of “Universal Heartbreak”, Lovett says: “The lyrics of this song draw on darker moments in recent years where I have been poring over mistakes I feel I’ve made, falling into despair, unable to see a way forward. The chorus (“but it’s too late / for universal heartbreak”) is me telling myself - and my partner, friends, and everyone - that we can’t afford to dwell on this. Not necessarily that it’s all going to be ok, but that we have to pick ourselves up, and the only way out is to move forward.”
The new single and forthcoming EP follows NZCA LINES’ third and most recent album, Pure Luxury.
NZCA LINES is a solo venture for Lovett, whose musical history also includes being a permanent member of the electronic music five-piece Metronomy, as well as previously playing guitar and synthesiser for Christine and the Queens.
Universal Heartbreak arrives on 22 September via Memphis Industries. Tickets for the headline show at The Lower Third are available now.
