Nicki Minaj turned down songs before agreeing on "Barbie World": "I didn't love them"
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Los Angeles premiere of Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, Nicki Minaj revealed that she had turned down "a couple" of songs before landing on "Barbie World".
Nicki Minaj admits she was sent a couple of songs for the Barbie movie soundtrack that she "didn't love" before she ended up recording "Barbie World" with Ice Spice.
When asked about how she became involved in the project, Minaj said: "There were a couple of songs that I didn't love. And then there was another song – well this Barbie sample – I loved it I just wanted it to have a dope drum. And the one they sent me I loved, and I jumped on it right away."

Minaj also went to express that being featured on the Barbie soundtrack is a "full circle moment" for her, as she has been saying Barbie her whole career, and couldn’t afford Barbie’s when she was little. "Now, I get to be part of a whole Barbie movie stamped in history forever," she added.
In an interview with The Guardian, Ice Spice recently revealed that she has become close friends with Nicki Minaj: "She be telling me to learn from her mistakes – just watching her in general, if you pay close enough attention, you gonna see what you should do. I love to talk to her about things that I can’t talk about publicly – it just means so much to be able to have somebody like her."
"Barbie" world is among a star-studded soundtrack which features Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?", “Speed Drive” by Charlie XCX, PinkPantheress’ track “Angel", global recording artist KAROL G’s high-energy anthem, “WATATI" (featuring Aldo Ranks) and the lead single “Dance The Night” from GRAMMY Award-winning global superstar Dua Lipa, who also makes a special appearance in the film.
