Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds present "Long Dark Night"
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have released "Long Dark Night" as the third single from their forthcoming album, Wild God.
This intimate twilight ballad is inspired by the poem Dark Night of the Soul by the Spanish 16th-century poet St. John of the Cross. Through its reflective lyrics, the track evokes the poem’s themes of struggle and transcendence.
Cave says: “Long Dark Night is inspired by one of the greatest and most powerful poems of conversion ever written. Ultimately, though, it's a beautiful country tune. It feels like a sweet companion to the song, Wild God.”
Part one and two of The Making of Wild God have been released this year. The forthcoming album, Wild God follows on from 2019's Ghosteen. Recent single "Frogs" followed on from the release of the album's title track, and was also given a limited 7" vinyl release.
Wild God will be released on Bad Seed, in partnership with Play It Again Sam, on 30 August, and is available to pre-order now.
