Nick Cave confirms that the new Bad Seeds album is almost finished
In the latest post on Nick Cave's website, The Red Hand Files, he reveals that he is almost finished with the forthcoming Bad Seeds album.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds last released an album in 2019. Ghosteen was followed by a collaboration with Cave and Warren Ellis of the Bad Seeds, in the form of the 2021 album, Carnage.
Last year, in another post on The Red Hand Files, Cave revealed that he planned to write the follow-up to Ghosteen once he had finished with his touring commitments. Earlier this year, he revealed that he had begun the writing process, and even shared some lyrics with his fans.
“My plan for this year is to make a new record with the Bad Seeds," he said. |This is both good news and bad news. Good news because who doesn’t want a new Bad Seeds record? Bad news because I’ve got to write the bloody thing.”
He continued: "I started the process at 9am on January 1st. It is now January 6th – nearly a week has passed and I’ve written a few things but they aren’t very good, or maybe they are, it’s difficult to tell. A kind of doldrums has set in, perennial and predictable."
Cave returned to his Red Hand Files website, yesterday (23 July), to let fans know that he was to take a short break from replying to questions in order to finish work on the album.
“Thank you for your kind words, but before I answer I’d like to let everyone know that I am now back in the studio finishing the new Bad Seeds record. I will continue to read all the letters that come in, and will be with you in spirit, but my replies may not be that regular or very expansive over the next few weeks.”
Earlier this year, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds celebrated the tenth anniversary of their album, Push the Sky Away.
Nick Cave and Debbie Harry recently shared a cover the track “On the Other Side" for the The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project.
