NewDad cover Charli XCX's "ILY2"
NewDad have followed up their February EP Banshee with a cover of Charlii XCX's "ILY2".
"ILY2" originally appeared on Charli XCX's third mixtape Number 1 Angel that landed in 2017, and today NewDad, who formed while at school in Galway, Ireland, have released a cover of the track, which lands with a Hugh Mulhern-directed video.
The band's Julie Dawson says of the cover, "We’ve always been huge fans of Charli XCX and thought it could be cool to take one of her songs and make our own version. "ILY2" with its distorted synths seemed like it could translate very well as a loud shoegazey song so we tried it out!"
The cover marks NewDad's first release since their Banshee EP arrived in February
