New York City Mayor Eric Adams to declare 9 November as “Wu-Tang Day”
Tomorrow (9 November) New York City will celebrate RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan with the lighting of the Empire State Building in their iconic black and yellow colours to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
Exploding on the scene with their seminal debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) on Nov. 9, 1993, the collective of rappers, RZA, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, U-God and Masta Killa, changed Hip-Hop forever.
Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) has become one of the most highly acclaimed albums in Hip-Hop history, reached platinum status within a year of its release and is now triple-platinum. Last year, the album was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Only 25 albums are selected each year to be included in the Library of Congress.
