Netflix's Never Have I Ever series features snippet of a new M.I.A. song
The final episode of Netflix's third season of Never Have I Ever features a snippet of an unreleased M.I.A. song, which will hopefully appear on her forthcoming album MATA.
Last Friday (12 August) Netflix shared the third season of Never Have I Ever, a coming-of-age comedy-drama series, and it turns out the final episode opened with an unreleased M.I.A. song.
As Stereogum points out, the new song samples Ilaiyaraaja's "Oh Vennilave", and features the lyrics: "Pop up anywhere that I want to / There's nothing much that I won't do ."
M.I.A. released her latest single "Popular" last week, which is expected to appear on her first album in six years, MATA, alongside May's "The One". MATA will follow M.I.A.'s 2016 album AIM.
Season three of Never Have I Ever is available to stream on Netflix now. M.I.A. is yet to share a release date for her MATA album.
