Nakhane announces Leading Lines EP with new song "My Ma Was Good"
Nakhane has announced their forthcoming EP Leading Lines, and has released a new track titled "My Ma Was Good" to accompany the news.
"My Ma Was Good" follows last month's Perfume Genius collaboration "Do You Well", and both tracks will feature on Nakhane's new EP with July's "Tell Me Your Politik" featuring Nile Rodgers and Moonchild Sanelly.
Nakhane says of the track and its theme, "Although she is no demure wallflower, she was still fucked over by a problematic masculinity. Here I was asking myself the question: “If my ma was good and she still got a raw deal, then why should I be good? Why should I behave?" This was at a point in my life when I was toying with the villain in me."
Leading Lines will follow Nakhane's 2018 album You Will Not Die, and will include one more new song titled "You've Got Me Living".
They add of the EP, "In the art world, leading lines are used in compositions to point to the subject. To the main concern of the piece. This EP is doing exactly that. It’s a baton. The thing that connects what came before and what’s to come next."
"My Ma Was Good" is out now. Nakhane will release their Leading Lines EP on 16 December.
